In addition to your responsibilities outlined in other sections of these booking conditions, the following are your obligations under your contract with us:

  • When collecting your car at the airport, you must provide us with the correct outbound flight number and estimated arrival time at the time of booking or, if not possible then, ensure this information is given to our Reservations team more than 7 days before your car collection date. Failure to provide accurate flight information may result in the car rental supplier not having a car available at the specified time, and neither we nor the supplier will be liable. If your flight is delayed, additional charges may apply for waiting time.
  • When picking up your rental car, you must present your original rental voucher, your valid full driving license as detailed under Eligibility, Credit Card and Government ID. Failure to provide the correct documentation may lead to the supplier refusing to provide the vehicle, and no refund will be given in such cases.
  • You must pay any charges and taxes not included in the car rental price directly to the car rental supplier upon vehicle collection (as outlined in “Our Prices” and “What is excluded” above). You should also pay any deposit for fuel or excess as required. We recommend that all named drivers carry a valid credit card, as prepaid cards are not accepted.
  • If you have purchased Top Up product or any insurance to waive your excess, it’s your responsibility to inform the car rental supplier of this when collecting your vehicle. Florida Car Hire For Less is not responsible for any deposit or payment made to the car rental supplier related to the excess.
  • Ensure you do not exceed the permitted maximum number of passengers for the car, as exceeding this limit may invalidate insurances.
  • Verify the arrangements regarding fuel with the car rental supplier upon collection. Typically, cars are provided with a full tank of fuel, and this is charged at the time of collection. Florida Car Hire For Less holds no liability for fuel-related arrangements.
  • If hiring (EV’s) Electric Vehicles (Tesla/Polestar or similar) please ensure you read all terms and conditions directly from the car rental company with regards to charging and payment for charging, using EV features such as ‘self driving’ and other features, returning the vehicle with sufficient charge (usually 80%) but this will be on your rental conditions.
  • Thoroughly inspect the condition of the car before accepting it, and make note of any scratches or dents on the supplier’s car rental contract.
  • Check with the car rental supplier about policies when driving across different countries, states, or provinces, and make sure to obtain necessary permissions. Failure to do so may void the renter’s insurance policy and result in personal liability for all charges.
  • In the U.S.A., avoid driving through an ORT (Open Road Tolling) lane, as this may activate the E Toll pass in your vehicle, incurring an admin fee from the rental company. Opt for ‘pay lanes’ and pay cash for tolls. For more information on Toll in Florida contact us on [email protected] for our detailed information with regards to tolls.
  • If you are dissatisfied with the vehicle’s standard upon collection or during the hire, report this to the rental supplier immediately and inform Florida Car Hire For Less to initiate resolution attempts (refer to clause 12, “Complaints”).

Authorisation for repairs or replacement cars must be obtained from the local car hire company. In case of an accident in the hire car, inform the local police and the car hire company, even if there is no damage excess. Retain copies of any relevant documentation you are asked to complete.
  • You are responsible for any parking fines, tow-away charges, or impounding fees incurred. This rule also applies to airport waiting areas, and cars must be returned to designated points as instructed at the time of collection.

We agree that the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, and English law applies, unless you reside in Scotland or Northern Ireland, in which case you can initiate proceedings in your local court under Scottish or Northern Irish law, as applicable.

Summary of Insurances

The following is a general summary of the insurances typically included in the car rental contract with your car rental supplier. Please note that the exact terms of these insurances may vary depending on the car rental supplier. If you wish to request a copy of the standard Rental Agreement used by the supplier in the country where you are hiring your vehicle, please let us know before making your booking.

Third Party Insurance

Third-party insurance covers damage to the property of a third party caused by your vehicle. Refer to the supplier’s Rental Agreements for details on any applicable excesses.

Collision Damage Waiver

Collision Damage Waiver waives your liability to pay for any damage caused to the vehicle during the hire period, subject to the exclusions listed below. Your liability is waived as long as you pay an “excess” charge, limiting your liability to the cost of the excess. In some cases, an excess may not apply, and you will be informed of this at the time of booking.

Exclusions include:

  • Damage to windows/windscreen, interior, wheels, tires, underside, or roof of the car.
  • Damage caused by driving off-road, on unpaved roads, without due care and attention, or negligently.
  • Damage caused while the driver is under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
  • Damage caused when the driver(s) is not named on the rental agreement.
  • Damage resulting from the rental vehicle being towed away by any unauthorized third party.

In cases where an exclusion applies, your liability for damage will not be waived, and you may be responsible for the full cost, even exceeding the excess.

Theft Protection Insurance

Theft Protection (sometimes known as Theft Waiver) provides coverage for theft or damage resulting from an attempted theft of the vehicle, its parts, and accessories up to their full value, as well as any loss incurred by your car rental supplier. You are responsible for the excess of the claim, which may cover single or multiple damaged parts of the vehicle. If damage occurs to the vehicle on separate occasions, each incident is considered a separate claim, and you will be required to pay it as part of the overall excess deposit, unless informed otherwise at the time of booking.

Exclusions include:

  • Loss, damage, or theft of keys, in which case you are liable for the reasonable costs of obtaining replacement keys in addition to any excess deposit paid.
  • Additional costs exceeding the excess if the loss, damage, or theft of keys is directly related to the theft of the vehicle, with these costs defined by the supplier.
